Share Your Story in The Howler
Calling All Dog Lovers!
Are you passionate about dogs? Do you have a funny, heartwarming, or inspiring story to share? Maybe you’ve discovered a training tip that changed your life, or you want to show off your pup’s latest adventure. If so, The Howler wants YOU!
At Hills Dog Club, our monthly newsletter isn’t just written by a handful of dedicated contributors, it’s powered by the voices of our entire community. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or simply someone with a story to tell, your experiences, insights, and “A-ha!” moments are the heartbeat of The Howler.

Why Should You Contribute?
- Celebrate Your Dog: Your stories, photos, and advice help us all connect and learn.
- Inspire Others: Share what’s worked for you, the challenges you’ve overcome, or the joy your furry friend brings.
- See Your Name in Print: There’s nothing quite like seeing your article or photo featured in our newsletter!
- Be Part of the Pack: Every contributor is invaluable. We cherish each unique perspective and experience.
What Can You Submit?
- Personal stories or memorable experiences with your dog (or any pet!)
- How dog training has helped you in other areas of life
- Creative photos with captions — sometimes a picture says it all!
Submission Tips
- Be Creative: Give your piece a creative title!
- Keep Formatting Minimal: Avoid using complicated or decorative styles. Stick to the basics, use only bold, italics, and underline when you need to emphasize something important.
- Use Basic Paragraphs: Break your text into short, easy-to-read paragraphs. This makes your post more inviting and easier to follow.
- Bullet Points and Numbered Lists: When you have several points to make, use bullet points or numbered lists. This helps organise your ideas and makes your content clearer for readers.
- Copyright: Photos should be your own (not from the internet unless you have permission and the original link. Consent from the owner should be provided in writing to allow for reprinting with permission).
- Label Image Files: If possible, name your image files after the people and dogs in them — like “Jess with Max at the lake.jpg.” Send us multiple photos if you have them — we love options! These can be uploaded here. Note: We may also source images from paid stock image sites.
- Image Types: The preferred image file types are JPG, PNG and PDF but if you have others, send them through and we will see what we can do.
- Quality Images: Please make sure you send higher-resolution images (2MB–3MB) as they work best for website and printing. Don’t embed images in your document; attach them separately for best quality.
Not Sure Where to Start?
Don’t worry about making it perfect! Our friendly editors are here to help your story shine. If you have questions, just email, or better yet, send what you have and we’ll work with you.
